MUA Undress Your Skin Shimmer Highlighter in Iridescent Gold Review And Swatch

I have only used highlighters from mid-range brands up until now. Drugstore highlighters did not previously appeal to me since most drugstore brands can't even get their shimmery eyeshadows right, let alone shimmery cheek products. Is this highlighter actually worth some praise, or simply a pan full of chalky glittery powder? Read on to find out!

I picked this up on a whim from Almas Super Shop for BDT 580/- (£3 at Superdrug, BDT 550/- at Urbanza). I found this on display while shopping for necessities and immediately bought it.

The highlighter pan comes in a round white container with a clear lid. The lid shuts tight. This item was very difficult to photograph and edit because it got washed out every time.

I got the shade Iridescent Gold, which looks pale gold in the pan. I initially thought this would be too pale or cool-toned for my skin tone.

The pan contains 7.5g of product. This is made in the PRC (People's Republic of China). I hadn't noticed this small detail while purchasing, and was scared to use it once I noticed it because I have had skin rashes resulting from the use of Makeup Revolution Blushing Hearts blushes made in the PRC. This contains talc, so if you are allergic to it, you might want to stay away.

The powder is patterned, with marble swirls on it. It's pretty impressive when an affordable product is patterned. The pattern isn't clumsy either, and looks quite chic.

A closer look at the pattern. Picture taken with flash.

On to the formula, shade, and wear time now.

The product is buildable. It is pigmented, but not highly. I love this because I can customize the highlight according to occasion. It was smooth and easy to apply and blend out. I applied it onto my highlight areas using a fan brush (Sigma F41), then used a flat kabuki brush (Sigma F80) to blend it in. I used it on my bare skin.

This was shimmery, but not glittery. This delivered just the right amount of glow instead of chunky glitter on my cheeks. Upon blending, it looked super natural.

The shade turned out to be warm gold instead of light gold on my skin. This was a pleasant surprise since I was intimidated by the colour in the pan. The result was a glowy gold tone on my highlight areas. My go-to highlighter is TheBalm Mary-Lou Manizer, and Iridescent Gold is much warmer and more gold. I love the shade!

My highlight slowly faded away in six hours, but it did so beautifully. There were still some shimmer particles on my face, but none of it was particularly gaudy or noticeable. I found the best, most natural glow came on after an hour of wear.

As for skin reactions, I thankfully did not get any reactions or rashes from this. This was easy to remove using regular makeup remover. Only bits of shimmer particles were left behind, which I was able to wash off.

Product details on the bottom.

I was very surprised at how well this performed, especially for the low price point. This performed just as well as my Mary-Lou Manizer does. It does not look cheap or tacky, and instead just looks pretty and glowy. The packaging is very chic too. I would definitely recommend getting this because it is an amazing and affordable highlighter, and it's pretty difficult to come across a combination of the two nowadays.

The one I purchased from Almas had the closing sticker opened, which is shady. If you are in Bangladesh and want an intact one, you can purchase this for a little less (BDT 550/-) from Urbanza (click on the name to go to their photo for this item). In the UK, you can get this at Superdrug for £3.

Have you tried this highlighter? Did you love it too, or did you hate it? Let me know!
